CHILDREN'S ADVANTAGE

 

Children's Advantage is an outpatient community behavioral healthcare agency that serves children, adolescents and families from birth to age 18 years.  Presenting issues are wide ranging and include adjustment disorders, ADHD, school failures, oppositional/conduct problems, deliquency, sexual abuse, physical abuse, neglect, depression and suicidal ideation, anxiety/phobias, developmental delays and psychosis.  Children's Advantage has an active multidisciplinary team which consists of therapists, case managers and psychiatrists who work together to identify and meet the client's needs.  The agency is integrated into the community and offers school and community programming off site.

 

Interns placed at Children's Advantage participate in a wide range of services, including diagnostic assessments, carrying a caseload of children and adolescents for individual and family therapy, conducting group therapy (groups might include anger management, parenting, divorce, physical disabilities, sex abuse, support groups and other groups based on intern interest and client needs), psychological testing and interventions and consultations with agency providers and community resources (e.g. schools, physicians, county agencies)
